Consumers will pay for the security and convenience of fingerprint

AuthenTec has sponsored a little survey on the consumer perception of fingerprint biometrics in PCs, laptops and cell phones. The majority were willing to pay an additional cost to have PCs and cellphones equipped with fingerprint readers for the convenience and the security.

Here’s some numbers: 63% would pay for biometrics added to their PC and laptops. 71% would pay for it on their cell phones. 75% of parents would be interested in fingerprint for the PC. 60% said they would like to use a fingerprint-enabled cell phone in replace of their wallet.
