The Beijing Metro has deployed a new access control system that uses HID Global’s network access controllers and contactless readers.
HID is providing its VertX V1000 network access controller and iCLASS R10 readers for the new system, which enables control center staff to monitor and control access to a variety of facilities, including offices, electrical substations and parking lots, along the Metro’s 11-station Fangshan line.
According to HID, the Web-based solution delivers real-time monitoring with multi-layered access control security, flexible remote-management capabilities and robust failure detection and backup support. Control center staff and station-level managers are provided with real-time access to system status, entry records and card information, and are connected to the central server via TCP/IP for data transmission.
The new system also enables each metro station office to perform its own station-level management, reporting and data tracking.
Launched in 1969, the Beijing Metro currently provides rapid transportation services to 7.57 million riders every day via 14 train lines and 198 stations. ![[end]](/resources/bullet/contactlessnews-4.gif)
