Global Payments introduces Ingenico iCT250 reader to Canada

Global Payments has announced the launch of Ingenico’s iCT250 contactless point of sale terminal in Canada.

According to Global Payments, the deployment makes them the first merchant acquirer to offer the contactless payments terminal in North America.


Based on Ingenico’s Telium2 platform, The iCT250 accepts payments from contactless credit and debit cards, EMV cards and NFC-enabled phones. The compact reader also features a vivid color screen and boasts the latest PCI PED 2.0 security. [end] 

Vantiv is now offering Ingenico’s NFC and EMV-enabled Telium series point-of-sale products to its financial institutions and merchant customers in the U.S.

The Telium readers, which are equipped with Vantiv’s own point-to-point card data encryption solution (P2PE), will help the Vantiv’s U.S. clients make the jump to EMV chip-based and NFC mobile payments, according to the company.

According to Reuters, Canadian banks, credit card companies and telecoms are reaching an agreement on an NFC payment service that will capitalize on Canada’s robust contactless infrastructure.

Ingenico is working together with Cajasiete, a financial services provider based in Canary Islands, Spain, on the deployment wireless terminals to support a new program of contactless payments at throughout the islands.
