Clear2Pay, Shanghai COS join GlobalPlatform

GlobalPlatform has announced that Clear2Pay, a global payment solutions provider, and Shanghai COS, a chip operating system (COS) developer, have become the organization’s newest members.

As a Participating Member, Clear2Pay will be able to join GlobalPlatform’s Device Committee, where it will provide input into the development of specifications for the Trusted Execution Environment (TEE). GlobalPlatform says the company will bring a “wealth” of payments processing, cards and testing expertise from the payments market to support the organization in the standardization and management of applications on secure chip technology.


Clear2Pay will also participate in the 2012 GlobalPlatform Compliance Program, which will focus on developing the test tools to evaluate the functional compliance of a TEE product to GlobalPlatform Specifications.

China-based Shanghai COS will join GlobalPlatform as an Observer Member, enabling it to provide its COS development and design expertise to the organization’s market-specific task forces.

According to GlobalPlatform, Shanghai COS’s presence will further strengthen the organization’s membership base of chip manufacturers and operating system developers. [end] 

Shanghai Fudan Microelectronics Group has joined GlobalPlatform as the organization’s latest Observer Member.

The Chinese chip design company focuses on the development and manufacture of application-specific secure chips across multiple sectors, including automotive, mobile/telecoms and payment. In joining GlobalPlatform, Shanghai Fudan will bring a its knowledge and experience in the manufacture of secure chips for specific functions, further strengthening the organization’s membership base of chip manufacturers.

GlobalPlatform launched its latest specifications for the Trusted Execution Environment (TEE).

The organization has released two new specifications primarily for use by software developers working within the TEE space. The “TEE Systems Architecture v1.0” explains the hardware and software architectures behind the TEE, while the “TEE Internal API Specification v1.0” specifies how to develop trusted applications.
