Ingenico debuts contactless payments in Ukraine

Ingenico has delivered contactless payment technology in the Ukraine.

PrivatBank, the Ukraine’s largest commercial bank, is now issuing MasterCard PayPass contactless payment cards, which can be to make tap and go payments at retailers equipped with Ingenico’s iCT220 and iPP220 terminals (pictured).


According to Ingenico, the first live contactless transaction was performed on Nov. 1 at a retailer in Kiev using Ingenico’s iPP terminal.

E-payment software developer JSC “Bancomzvjazok” provided Ingenico with the contactless application for the roll out, and the partners say they have achieved “significant success” in distributing the solution so far. [end] 

HSBC announced that it will begin the conversion to contactless technology this month, replacing all customer banking debit cards, according to ThinkMoney.com.

The bank will start to roll out the new contactless cards to existing customers whose debit cards are due to expire this month and then continue the process as cards expire. Customers who don’t want a contactless card can opt out by contacting their bank before their current card expires.

Vantiv is now offering Ingenico’s NFC and EMV-enabled Telium series point-of-sale products to its financial institutions and merchant customers in the U.S.

The Telium readers, which are equipped with Vantiv’s own point-to-point card data encryption solution (P2PE), will help the Vantiv’s U.S. clients make the jump to EMV chip-based and NFC mobile payments, according to the company.

Ingenico is working together with Cajasiete, a financial services provider based in Canary Islands, Spain, on the deployment wireless terminals to support a new program of contactless payments at throughout the islands.
