ACS has announced that it will deliver contactless ticketing to certain public transportation systems in Abu Dhabi, Casablanca and Mexico City.
ACS, a Xerox company, will implement its Atlas ticketing system in all three cities, enabling millions of commuters to pay for fares with the wave of a preloaded contactless debit card provided by their local transit agency.
In Abu Dhabi, where transit use is expected to see a five-fold increase during the next 20 years, the new system will support both urban and rural buses. Today, Abu Dhabi operates 520 buses, but over the next two years that number is expected to nearly triple to 1,365. ACS says they will expand the system accordingly and will continue to provide project management, training, integration, ticket processing and account payment reconciliation.
In Casablanca, ACS will install 200 automatic ticket vending machines and 560 access control gates in Casa Transport’s 47 tramway stations. According to ACS, the system will enable quicker access to tram cars with the option to buy contactless tickets or cards throughout the entire network at any time. The system will also be compatible with other transportation networks in Casablanca, including bus lines.
In Mexico City, ACS will install a similar fare collection system on Metrobus’ Line 4. This new route will have the first on-board fare collection system for any of the city’s bus lines, says ACS. ![[end]](/resources/bullet/contactlessnews-4.gif)
