Schlage’s Aptiq line of smart cards and readers is built on an open standard that enables organization’s to build their own application for the cards, says Rajesh Venkat, vice president of marketing at Ingersoll Rand. The company is looking to work with application developers to create different programs for the credentials.
The company is positioning the product line as not just a solution for physical access control but also for payments in different environments. “Aptiq is not only going to be used for physical access but other applications as well,” he says.
The product line is aimed at any size business from the college campus and health care organizations to small businesses, Venkat says.
