Global smart card consulting and integration testing services firm FIME has received Contactless Specification version 2.0.1 Level 1 from EMVCo, the EMV standards body.

EMVCo is the EMV standards group owned by American Express, JCB, MasterCard and Visa. Its functions are to award laboratories accreditation in the EMV field and qualify test tools that can grant EMV product approval.

FIME developed its analog level 1 testing technology to become EMVCo’s first certified laboratory.

With this designation, FIME will be able to certify contactless card product compliance to EMVCo’s level 1 contactless specifications that determine the base functionality for operation and market interoperability of contactless payment cards.

FIME joins French-based GIXEL Smart Card Group

FIME announced it has joined GIXEL Smart Card Group, the industry organization for the promotion and development of smart card-based e-identity solutions in France.

As a partner member, FIME will work with GIXEL to develop and promote the IAS-ECC (Identification Authentication Electronic Signature – European Citizen Card) Specification, which was created by GIXEL for the French e-identity projects.

EMVCo to hold annual user meeting in Toronto

EMVCo, the EMV standards body jointly owned by American Express, JCB, MasterCard and Visa, will host its fourth annual EMV User Meeting on June 20 - June 21 at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown in Toronto, Canada.

Nearly half of all payment cards are EMV-based

EMVCo, the EMV technology standards body owned by American Express, JCB, MasterCard and Visa, released data showing the growth of EMV acceptance around the world, with nearly half of all payment cards and three-quarters of all payment terminals in circulation being based on EMV technology.

FIME, Thales collaborate on testing, certification service

FIME is joining forces with Thales IT Security Evaluation Facility (ITSEF), a provider of information systems and secure communication in defense, security and transportation markets, to provide a new testing and certification service.
