Identive and NXP sign multi-year value added reseller agreement

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Identive Group and NXP have signed a reseller agreement to enhance products offered by the companies. The initial agreement is a 3-year term that will leverage NFC and RFID technologies to further the reach of the companies. The companies hope to focus on NFC in new emerging markets.

The agreement builds on the existing business relationship between the two companies, which includes cooperation on secure identification applications such as contactless readers for government and employee ID programs, NFC stickers for mobile phones and smart posters, and radio frequency identification (RFID) tags for tracking assets such as pharmaceutical products or library books. [end]

Identive Group announced tomPAY, an NFC-enabled sticker tag that can be affixed to existing mobile phones to enable contactless payments.

Based on Identive’s tom (tag on metal) smart inlay technology, tomPAY is manufactured using the same processes as an ISO PVC card. When placed on a phone, tomPAY enables contactless mobile payments in compliance with MasterCard PayPass specifications, as well as loyalty, transport ticketing and other m-commerce services.
