Contactless access control systems on the rise, says Frost & Sullivan

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

New research from Frost & Sullivan shows that the popularity of access control systems using contactless smart card technology is set to increase significantly in the world of corporate and commercial security.

According to F&S, the world corporate security market is expected to grow to around $235 million in 2012 - double the size of what it was in 2006. Driving this market growth is the Middle East, which is becoming an increasingly significant market for the latest in security systems, says F&S.

Apart from corporate houses, government and military installations, educational institutions and sensitive sites, contactless smart card driven access control systems are being increasingly employed at events and locations where a large number of people need to be processed quickly, says F&S.

These systems are now increasingly used for crowd control in major sports events, concerts, mass transit systems and large conferences. [end]
