Centro, the Integrated Transport Authority for the West Midlands, UK, is inviting local authorities and bus operators to join a framework mechanism intended to drive down the cost of procuring smart cards for public transit systems, according to transportxtra.com.
Jag Dhugga, Centro’s head of commercial opportunities, says the Passenger Transport Executive (PTE) is trying to reduce smart card costs by awarding contracts via four-year framework mechanisms this fall, allowing other local authorities and bus operators throughout the UK to procure their own card services.
