Plymouth adopts contactless parking system

Thursday, August 5, 2010

The City Council of Plymouth, UK is implementing a contactless payment system in three of its parking lots, according to TransportXtra.

The Council has chosen Parkeon’s Strada pay & display (P&D) contactless terminals for the new system, and will also replace 38 on-street P&D terminals with solar-powered Stradas.

“The addition of contactless payment card facilities will take the city forward with the latest in parking technology,” said Mike Artherton, CCTV and parking manager for the Plymouth City Council.

“Although primarily intended for those staying all day in the higher value transaction areas or buying weekly passes, we are extending the convenience of card payment facilities to all drivers, even those paying for just an hour.“
