Tokheim adopts OTI's EasyFuel service station solution

Monday, July 26, 2010

European fuel dispenser provider Tokheim Group has selected OTI’s EasyFuel system to provide vehicle fleet operators with a wireless fuel management system that incorporates vehicle identification.

The solution allows Tokheim, which supplies over 31,000 service stations across Europe, to provide new features such as automated odometer and/or engine hour capture, velocity checks and tank capacity checks.

The system works by mounting a Vehicle Tag on each car. The tag is essentially a smart card that contains information on the vehicle as well as the driver’s payment information, which is automatically read as the car pulls into the station.

This allows the driver to skip the card swiping process and go directly to fueling. Once fueling is complete, the transaction is automatically logged on the system’s computer, and the driver is free to go - no signatures, no PINS.

Additionally, during each refueling EasyFuel reads the mileage from the odometer and/or engine hours and provides this information to fleet owners, allowing them greater visibility in fuel management.

According to OTI, the EasyFuel platform also eliminates fuel fraud, reduces cash and paper handling and allows stations to offer 24-hour unattended refueling. [end]

On Track Innovations (OTI) has been awarded a $2.5 million ten-year contract to deploy its EasyFuel solution for a government ministry in Africa.

EasyFuel is an automated payment solution that uses contactless technology to streamline the fueling process for oil companies, fleets and retail customers. Operable both in service stations and home bases, EasyFuel uses in-vehicle contactless smart cards to automatically send the service station vehicle identification and fuel type, as well as billing and payment information, allowing for a quick and easy fill up.
