Gemalto selected for Turkish e-passport personalization program

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey has selected Gemalto to provide its Coesys issuance solution for the personalization of new electronic passports for Turkish citizens.

Gemalto’s Coesys solution combines software, hardware and integration services designed to enable governments to personalize secure documents like e-passport, health care or ID cards.

Gemalto deployed the solution in two service centers in Turkey - one located on the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the other housed in the Turkish Police center in Ankara - and is currently in the process of training the staff in charge of operating the system. [end]

But the documents were delayed due to complexities with the operation of the project and the need to thoroughly research and analyze other countries’ experiences with biometric passports.
