Mobile payment test lab Riscure joins GlobalPlatform

GlobalPlatform has announced that Riscure, an independent security test laboratory specializing in mobile and payment security, has become it latest member.

As a member, Riscure will help GlobalPlatform develop a secure and standardized infrastructure to supports the progressive requirements of the mobile payments landscape.


Riscure will join as a Participating Member, meaning they can actively participate in task forces and the Card Committee, where the organization is working on an enhanced compliance program aimed at creating an open compliance ecosystem by developing security certification models and testing tools.

Further membership benefits for Riscure include: the ability to participate in GlobalPlatform’s Advisory Council, which provides direct access for members to the GlobalPlatform Executive Director and Board of Directors; all-member meeting attendance; and voting privileges. [end] 

The European Payments Council (EPC) has published the second edition of its “White Paper on Mobile Payments.”

According to EPC, the white paper focuses on the usage of the mobile payments in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) and explores how m-payment services can be delivered through cooperation between service providers in the payment industry and players within the mobile ecosystem.

Turkcell, Turkey’s largest mobile operator, has announced the launch of a SIM-based NFC road toll payment application on the Turkcell T11 smart phone.

Developed in collaboration with Bank Asya, the app allows users to migrate their plastic KGS toll payment cards onto their T11 smart phone to pay for fares when crossing bridges and freeway turnpikes.

GlobalPlatform announced that it will hold a two-day card specification training session March 1-2 at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas.

Directly preceding CARTES North America 2012 (March 5-7, Las Vegas), the training session will aim to educate CARTES delegates and other participants on the importance of GlobalPlatform Specifications, their capabilities and functionality.
