Istanbul is set to host a summit with more than 30 industry professionals discussing global trends in smart payment systems, according to The Hurriyet Daily News.
The Third Cardist Card and Smart Technologies Exhibition & Summit will take place May 12 and 14, with Interbank Card Center as the event’s main sponsor, and MasterCard and VISA as the payment systems sponsors.
The event, organized by NTSR International Fair & Congress Organizations, aims to make Turkey the center of smart applications in Eurasia, the Middle East and North Africa, according to HDN.
“In recent years, Turkey has implemented Europe’s first contactless application, revealing its innovative approach in the payment systems field. Those willing to develop their visions through merging this innovative approach with global experiences will meet at the Cardist Summit, which will be a mirror for the sector’s future,” said Alexander Rolfe, chair of the Cardist Summit and publisher of Payments Cards & Mobile.
Sertaç Özinal, managing director of the Interbank Card Center, says that, “future card technology, contactless cards and near field communication, or NFC, will soon change many of our habits, making life easier. We assume these technologies will set their seal on the 2010s.”
Topics at the summit will include: the future of everyday payments in Europe; mastering global challenges in today’s card arena; trends and outlooks for the global SIM marketplace; current trends in fraud; mobile payment systems; and prepaid issues for the present and the future, says HDN.
