sQuid luanches smart card loyalty program

sQuid has announced the launch of its new smart card-based loyalty program for businesses wishing to implement contactless payment technology.

The program provides customers with an online account where they can view their transactions, as well as keep track of their loyalty funds, which are protected with a central host system.


According to sQuid, the program affords even small business the opportunity to offer personalized loyalty programs to customers.

sQuid also grants business owners the ability to issue personalized contactless cards, as well as communicate with customers via a branded portal.sQuid made the announcement after the recent successful completion of a 12-month pilot with UK’s Coffee Republic. [end] 

Gemalto has announced that its “Allynis” Trusted Service Manager (TSM) solution has been selected to securely manage transactions on the Isis mobile commerce platform.

Isis, the mobile commerce joint venture between Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, will enable U.S. customers to pay, present loyalty cards, and redeem coupons all with a tap of their NFC-enabled phones. According to Sébastien Cano, seniro vice president at Gemalto North America, the TSM solution will enable Isis to securely deliver mobile payments along with a host of NFC services, including access control and mass transit in addition to couponing and loyalty.

McDonald’s and Barclaycard are gearing up to launch NFC awareness campaigns aimed at spurring the adoption of contactless payment technology, according to MarketingWeek.

Barclaycard, which holds the highest share (71%) of the UK contactless market, reports that contactless transactions have doubled in the last year, but are still “nowhere near” where they want to be, according to Tom Gregory, Barclaycard’s head of digital payments.

A new survey from Euro Kartensysteme shows that Germans are starting to embrace the idea of contactless and NFC payments.

Out of 1,040 Germans aged 18-59, 43% responded that they would like to make contactless payments if given the opportunity, of which 58% percent would make their payments with a debit card card, 41% with a credit card and 50% with an NFC phone.
