Theatre Royal leaps into the 21st century with SALTO Systems

The Theatre Royal Stratford East has awarded SALTO Systems a contract to provide a fully integrated XS4 solution which includes access control and stand alone locks using cotactless Mifare cards.

The installation will be carried out by Delta Security, a local business partner of SALTO Systems. The XS4 system’s off-line doors will be validated by regular use of the hot-spot, on-line access control readers.


Since opening its doors in 1884, the Theatre Royal has undergone numerous renovations to accommodate seating for up to 460 guests, on three levels. Its latest upgrade plan is to improve security in key areas of the building, and is scalable to cover the theatres future development needs. [end] 

Interactive Health Technologies, an Austin, Texas-based provider of digital fitness systems, has added NFC technology from Sony to its Spirit System school fitness program.

Now available to schools across America, Spirit System enables schools to track students’ physical activity and fitness progress through NFC-enabled Spirit Heart Rate Monitor devices equipped with Sony NFC Dynamic Tag (FeliCa Plug) technology. To log their fitness information, students simply tap the heart monitor against an NFC reader.

University College Dublin has implemented a smart access control solution from Spanish company SALTO Systems in its new Roebuck Castle student facility.

Providing wireless, real time access control is at the heart of the SALTO system. Any number of doors can be equipped with the solution at a than a conventional wired access control system and its battery power consumption is close to that of standard battery powered electronic lock.

After nearly ten years and over €55 million, Dublin’s “Leap” transit card has finally hit the market, reports Herald.ie.

The contactless smart card is now available for use on Dublin Buss, Luas, Dart and commuter rail lines around the capital. Rather than having to buy separate tickets or pay with cash, Dublin commuters now can just tap their Leap card against a reader aboard the transport of their choosing.
