PKO Bank Polski to upgrade 6 million contactless cards

Poland’s PKO Bank Polska has announced that it will upgrade 6 million Visa debit cards to include Visa’s payWave contactless payment technology, according to finextra.com.

PKO will begin the roll out in June and finish in 2011.


The new cards will be usable at approximately 20,000 terminals, which will be installed by the end of the year. Upgraded card holders need only wave their card in front of the terminals to complete transactions - no signatures or PINs necessary.
