Turkish bank places additional order for OTI readers

On Track Innovations Ltd., a provider of contactless microprocessor-based smart card solutions, announced that Yapi Kredi of Turkey has placed an additional order to expand its MasterCard PayPass contactless payment program, bringing the total number of readers to be delivered to Yapi Kredi this year to 2,500 of OTI’s Saturn 6000 contactless readers. Yapi Kredi is a privately-owned bank in Turkey.


OTI’s Saturn 6000 reader is available in multiple colors with a large LCD display that enables configurable images, and programmable lines of characters in multiple languages. The reader can be placed on a countertop, be wall-mounted or lie flat. The Saturn 6000 reader supports major financial contactless programs including ISO 14443 Payment Implementation, MasterCard PayPass Mag Stripe and M/Chip (EMV), Visa PayWave MSD and qVSDC (EMV), American Express ExpressPay, Discover Zip, MIFARE, NFC and other proprietary systems. [end] 

MasterCard announced that it intends to present its contactless payment cards to Azerbaijani financial market in 2012.

According to abc.az, MasterCard is in negotiation with the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, as well as Azerbaijan private banks regarding the implementation of projects on non-cash payments and the introduction of contactless cards for payments for applications in transit, dining and entertainment.

The UK’s YESpay International and YES-wallet.com have teamed up to build an NFC-enabled cloud-based mobile payments platform.

By integrating the YES-wallet Pouch digital wallet with YESpay EMBOSS payment service, the companies will provide a platform that encompasses e-Money, pre-paid and gift-card payments based on Visa PayWave and MasterCard PayPass contactless standards.

Turkcell, Turkey’s largest mobile operator, has announced the launch of a SIM-based NFC road toll payment application on the Turkcell T11 smart phone.

Developed in collaboration with Bank Asya, the app allows users to migrate their plastic KGS toll payment cards onto their T11 smart phone to pay for fares when crossing bridges and freeway turnpikes.
