Gemalto expands sustainability commitment with eco-friendly product portfolio

Gemalto has rolled out an expanded portfolio of eco-friendly products that are available for banking, telecom and government customers worldwide and underscores the company’s commitment to develop digital security solutions designed to reduce a business’s environmental impact.


“Gemalto has a long track record of environmentally friendly practices and is committed to these in all aspects of our business,” said Paul Beverly, Gemalto’s executive vice president. “For years Gemalto has been developing eco-friendly products, such as chlorine free or bio sourced cards, implementing new production practices to reduce water and energy consumption and minimizing waste production.” Gemalto`s eco-friendly product portfolio reduces environmental impact in three key areas: chlorine free manufacturing materials, hazardous substance reduction and promoting renewable and recycled material. Gemalto is also committed to ongoing compliance with international environmental guidelines and has developed a comprehensive sustainability strategy which extends to all business practices.

Gemalto has announced that its “Allynis” Trusted Service Manager (TSM) solution has been selected to securely manage transactions on the Isis mobile commerce platform.

Isis, the mobile commerce joint venture between Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, will enable U.S. customers to pay, present loyalty cards, and redeem coupons all with a tap of their NFC-enabled phones. According to Sébastien Cano, seniro vice president at Gemalto North America, the TSM solution will enable Isis to securely deliver mobile payments along with a host of NFC services, including access control and mass transit in addition to couponing and loyalty.

“One of the major challenges facing transit agencies today is how to capitalize on the ever-growing popularity of mobile phones with a solid mobile strategy,” said Transportation Council Chairman Craig Roberts. “This white paper builds on the knowledge base developed in earlier white papers to foster a greater understanding of NFC technology, explain its role in the transit industry, and shed light on key issues facing the transit industry in developing a mobile strategy.”
