Coast Guard orders handheld readers from MaxID

MaxID, a manufacturer of biometric handheld equipment, and CoreStreet, a provider of credential validation solutions, announced the sale of ten iDLMaxG TWIC handheld biometric reader devices to the United States Coast Guard.

The iDLMaxG units delivered to the Coast Guard are bundled with the CoreStreet PIVMAN software, which provides a TWIC-compatible solution.

The iDLMaxG is a multi-modal, ruggedized mobile computer that includes a QWERTY keyboard, bar code, contact and contactless card readers, optical fingerprint scanner and optional magnetic swipe and MRZ readers with a digital camera, GPS, and communications capabilities. [end] 

The Transportation Security Administration announced that it’s expanding the PreCheck screening program that enables prescreened individuals expedited passage through airport security.

TSA Administrator John S. Pistole made the announcement at the Washington Press Club. Thus far PreCheck has been rolled out at nine airports and 460,000 travelers have gone through the screening process. PreCheck enables travelers to no longer remove their shoes or light jacket and allows them to keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant bag in a carry-on.

On Track Innovations (OTI) has received an order for 30,000 of its NFC and contactless payment readers for deployment in the U.S.

OTI did not reveal who will receive the readers, but assured that the devices would be used to support the migration towards contactless payments and NFC in the U.S.

The U.S. Army has decided to extend it smart card pilot program for Army spouses and retirees. The pilot, which began in October 2011, now runs through September.

Gaming Partners International announced that it has received three orders to supply casino chips and plaques totaling just under $4.7 million.

The company will produce approximately 700,000 custom Bourgogne et Grasset (B&G) premium casino chips for Venetian Macau Limited’s Sands Macau and Sands Cotai properties. GPI will also produce over 80,000 B&G RFID plaques to Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (SJM)’s Grand Lisboa property.
