Multi-application and purse card issued by ACS

Advanced Card Systems Ltd., Asia Pacific’s supplier of PC-linked smart card readers, has launched its ACOS6 Multi-application and Purse Card, also known as MAP, that is designed for multiple applications and e-purses.

The new design allows developers to incorporate various independent applications into one ACOS6 card. For instance, a user could utilize his card for e-government services and campus facilities while also as a payments vehicle at retail shops.

Gemalto announced that it is providing Colsubsidio, a Compensation Fund in Colombia, with multi-application EMV cards.

The Multi Service Membership Card provides all Colsubsidio members with the security of EMV payment, combined with a range of services. These services include an e-purse application, admittance to recreational parks, as well as access to sport and convention centers.

Visa Europe has announced that NFC-enabled smart phones from Samsung, LG and Research In Motion have been certified for use with Visa payWave, Visa’s mobile application for payments at the point-of-sale.

A new survey from Euro Kartensysteme shows that Germans are starting to embrace the idea of contactless and NFC payments.

Out of 1,040 Germans aged 18-59, 43% responded that they would like to make contactless payments if given the opportunity, of which 58% percent would make their payments with a debit card card, 41% with a credit card and 50% with an NFC phone.
