Why not develop your own NFC apps?

Three simple steps will get you started

So you want to develop NFC applications but don’t know where to start? Follow these three simple steps and you can be up and running.

Step 1: “Talk to the Guru” to learn the basics for free

Until March 21, you have a unique opportunity to have personal access to one of the world’s best NFC minds. Nokia is making it possible for us all to ask questions of NFC developer Gerald Madlmayr online during the “Talk to the Guru” session.

Gerald Madlmayr is a blogger at Forum Nokia (forum.nokia.com) and a research associate at the NFC Research Lab in Hagenberg. He builds NFC applications, teaches mobile developers, and even runs NFC pilots. You have to be registered at forum.nokia.com to post your questions about NFC. Registration is free, and it only takes a minute or two. Once you’re registered, you’re ready to go.

Step 2: Download the SDKs and tools you need to begin

Nokia has made available a host of great resources for NFC developers, and best of all they are free. Download SDKs and find other helpful resources at forum.nokia.com

Step 3: Get your own NFC handset in just a couple of days

Setup a business-to-business account with Nokia, and you can order NFC phones from the U.S. or anywhere in the world*. Call 1-866-665-4273 and provide your company’s purchasing and tax information. Then purchase a single phone … or as many as you need. You receive a 15% discount off list pricing and the phones generally ship the next day. The price for the Nokia 6131NFC is $179.35 and the new 6212NFC is $212.50 (plus shipping).
*For other locations, please refer to Forum Nokia’s NFC pages.
