Gemalto personalizes concession cards issued by Singapore's Land Transport Authority

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Gemalto is providing end-to-end personalization and distribution services for the new contactless e-purse-compliant concession cards being issued by the Singapore Land Transport Authority.

The e-purse application is an interoperable micro-payment platform for Singapore made possible by a joint collaboration of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore and the Land Transport Authority. It enables multiple card issuers to produce a new generation of cards that can be used for travel in public buses and metro, electronic road pricing, electronic parking system car parks and other electronic payment systems.

As part of Gemalto’s services to the transport authority, roving centers have been established at schools to issue the new cards to students on-site. [end]

Gemalto has announced that its “Allynis” Trusted Service Manager (TSM) solution has been selected to securely manage transactions on the Isis mobile commerce platform.

Isis, the mobile commerce joint venture between Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, will enable U.S. customers to pay, present loyalty cards, and redeem coupons all with a tap of their NFC-enabled phones. According to Sébastien Cano, seniro vice president at Gemalto North America, the TSM solution will enable Isis to securely deliver mobile payments along with a host of NFC services, including access control and mass transit in addition to couponing and loyalty.
