Ecuador taps OTI for eID project

On Track Innovations Ltd. (OTI), a provider of contactless microprocessor-based smart card solutions for homeland security & eID Systems, announced that it has signed a contract with the Registry Office of the Government of Ecuador to implement a pilot project for the country’s National eID system.

The value of this first stage project to OTI is estimated at $4 million, with deliveries scheduled for the first half of 2009.


The project includes issuance of new biometric-based electronic ID cards and other public certificates, for example birth, death, marriage, for the citizens of Ecuador.

OTI will supply its eID Magna platform for the system. The project includes supply of both stationary and mobile stations for data enrollment, creating a central registry database and issuing contactless, secure smart ID cards. The solution also incorporates a Biometric Automatic Fingerprint Identification System, which detects and prevents multiple registration attempts. [end] 

Paytoo has announced the addition of a multi-currency mobile payment platform to its SIM-based mobile wallet.

According to Paytoo, the company’s mobile wallet service now supports international, mobile multi-currency transfers across the globe in real time, as well as online mobile payments and prepaid account top up through 185 mobile operators in 85 countries.
