ViVOtech names new global sales vice president

John Shap, a 25-Year industry veteran, has been chosen to lead ViVOtech’s efforts to sell its next-generation contactless and NFC mobile payments and promotions solutions to retailers.

Shap’s experience includes serving as senior vice president for world wide sales and marketing at DemandTec, a consumer demand management software-as-a-service solution provider. He also held the same executive-level position for SPSS Inc., a provider of predictive analytics and market research software, solutions and services.

During his career, Shap has built a strong track record of sales growth and management of resources in the U.S. and internationally, for companies such as Initiate Systems, Siebel Systems and Hyperion Solutions. [end] 

VeriFone Systems has announced the acquisition of Global Bay Mobile Technologies in order to expand its mobile retail offerings.

VeriFone, a supplier of point of sale equipment, says the acquisition is the latest development in their strategy to bring new smart phone and tablet-based shopping and payment experiences to retail organizations. Terms of the transaction, which closed effective immediately, were not disclosed.
