Sheetz, Wright Express test NFC with fleet vehicle drivers

Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in News

Sheetz convenience stores and Wright Express Corporation, a payments processing provider, have teamed up to produce the first multi-city NFC project that will enable drivers to make fuel purchases at Sheetz locations using their mobile phones.

The pilot, which began in January, is a first for both Sheetz and Wright Express, who are collaborating with ViVOtech to gauge NFC’s benefits and the impact on the fleet fueling industry.

ViVOtech provided the NFC mobile solution for the trial including a mobile wallet, over-the-air fleet card provisioning infrastructure software, promotion management software and contactless/NFC terminals installed at Sheetz locations.

Sheetz has been accepting contactless cards at its convenience stores for several years. [end]
