Gemalto's instant issuance solution means quicker delivery of credit cards

Monday, November 3, 2008

Digital security provider Gemalto says it has equipped more than 300 shopping malls worldwide with its Dexxis Instant Issuance solution, enabling on-the-spot delivery of some one million credit cards per year. Some banks using the system personalize and issue up to 200 cards per week, per branch. It also translates into higher sales volumes for merchants, as shoppers can start using their credit cards immediately.

Gemalto’s Dexxis Instant Issuance solution allows banks to issue both magnetic stripe and EMV cards. For the bank, benefits include logistics cost reduction and additional revenues generated by transactions carried out during the usual issuance cycle. Furthermore, market studies have indicated that on-the-spot issuance gives rise to card activation of close to 100%. This means that all the cards delivered are actually used.

Gemalto Dexxis Instant Issuance comprises the software embedded in the bank’s host server to manage the solution centrally, as well as the software implemented on local workstations at branches for remote personalization. It is part of the broader Gemalto Dexxis personalization solution, which already tops almost 100 installations in 45 countries. [end]

Gemalto announced it has acquired M2M service provider SensorLogic in an asset arrangement. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Plano, Texas-based SensorLogic has a cloud-based machine-to-machine (M2M) service delivery platform. With it, customers can build, deploy and manage M2M products through applications like asset tracking, servicing and telematics and equipment monitoring.
