Technologist named to ViVOtech board

Thursday, October 30, 2008

Don Kingsborough, currently CEO of Blackhawk Network but who, earlier in his career spent time at Atari helping to introduce Nintendo to U.S. gamers, has been appointed to the board of directors of Silicon Valley-based ViVOtech, a developer of NFC mobile and contactless payment systems.

Kingsborough founded Blackhawk Network in 2001. Since that time, the company has been a leader in the development of third-party prepaid card products. Prior to establishing Blackhawk, Kingsborough founded and served as chief executive officer of toy manufacturer Worlds of Wonder, where he created a multi-million-dollar new industry category and propelled this start-up business to one of the nation’s fastest growing companies.

While at Atari Corporation, Kingsborough led the introduction of Nintendo to America, growing its sales from zero to more than $2 billion in four years. [end]
