Women's clothing retailer now accepts PayPass

New York & Company’s 600 women’s fashion retail stores is now accepting MasterCard PayPass, becoming the first national apparel merchant to accept contactless payments.

According to MasterCard research, consumer preference and satisfaction is driving PayPass growth and usage globally. A 2007 MasterCard PayPass Benchmark Study found that about 90% of PayPass-using respondents were satisfied with their experience, and 71% of PayPass consumers said they use it as their primary card for everyday purchases. [end] 

Sticking to its plan for a contactless rollout in 2012, Australian retailer Coles has selected Ingenico to provide its Ingenico iPP350 contactless payment terminals.

According to finextra.com, the Aussie retailer first piloted the technology in September 2011, and has since decided to expand. All business groups will deploy the new iPP350 across 24,000 lanes within the next few months, making the retailer one of the first in Australia to offer the contactless payment option.

Clothing retailer Gap has announced that 65 of its stores across the Bay Area have adopted Google Wallet.

Customers at selected Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Banana Republic Factory Stores and Gap Outlet stores can now pay for their items and redeem digital coupons all with a single tap of their NFC-enabled mobile phone at checkout.

The UK’s YESpay International and YES-wallet.com have teamed up to build an NFC-enabled cloud-based mobile payments platform.

By integrating the YES-wallet Pouch digital wallet with YESpay EMBOSS payment service, the companies will provide a platform that encompasses e-Money, pre-paid and gift-card payments based on Visa PayWave and MasterCard PayPass contactless standards.

Turkcell, Turkey’s largest mobile operator, has announced the launch of its Cep-T Cüzdan NFC mobile wallet application on BlackBerry Bold 9900 smart phones.

Turkcell subscribers with NFC-enabled Bold 9900s can now use the mobile wallet service to make contactless payments at any MasterCard PayPass-enabled point of sale across Turkey, as well as abroad.
