ASK to highlight two new products at CARTES

French contactless card company ASK is set to introduce two new products at CARTES and IDentification Nov. 4-6. These include a new range of prelmaninated inlays for contactless smart cards, Corelam, and a universal, multi-standard contactless module, the UCM108.


Designed to be the core of the contactless cards required by the banking and the identity markets, CoreLam is based on the ASK technology of silver antenna and die chip process, a field-proven technology with more than 120 million users worldwide. CoreLam can be integrated into various finished products, such as PVC, PET, PETF or polycarbonate to meet the identity market needs of ID cards, driver licenses, health cards and electronic passports.

CoreLam is available in different formats, from 25 positions (5x5) per format up to 40 positions (4x10). It allows smart card manufacturers to produce different end products from the same raw material. Furthermore, ASK inlays are compliant with any equipment able to laminate and die cut smart cards, limiting any modification of an existing manufacturing process almost to none.

CoreLam® is already qualified with several HF and UHF chips, providing the opportunity for a wide range of contactless end products.

ASK’s latest contactless OEM device, the UCM108, is a flexible core module that complies with ISO 14443 type A and B standards as well as Felica®, NFC and Mifare® protocols. UCM can serve as a new platform for a whole range of dedicated couplers for mass transit, e-Identity, payment and physical and logical access control.

The size of a two euro coin, UCM108, uses an integrated, powerful architecture (ARM7) and a high speed communication data rate. Multiple interfaces (including native USB) enable connections to a PC or any other host system for a variety of contactless applications.

E-security products provider Cryptomathic has released the Cryptomathic Cloud Wallet, which enables secure mobile payments through the cloud.

Rather than using payment applications that are delivered through EMV chips located in payment cards or on smart phones, the Cloud Wallet links a user’s payment methods and mobile devices to a secure networked platform.
