SEPTA ready to seek smart-card bids

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, better known as SEPTA, is looking to replace its standard fare colleciton system of tokens, tickets and passes with one smart card. The agency will seek bids next month and plans on awarding a contract by next April.

Still, completion of a new fare system is at least three years away. SEPTA is considering installing a contactless system for its subways, buses and trains. Read more here[end]
