VeriFone establishes unattended payment environments

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

VeriFone has rolled out a small-footprint electronic payments module that’s ideal for vending machines or outdoor kiosks, ticketing devices and other unattended systems. The San Jose, Calif.-based company’s Vx 700 is designed to meet EMV security standards and integrates with the company’s secure card reader and external contactless payments interface to provide a multiple payments solution.

Designed to also meet PCI PED security standards, the Vx 700 includes a keypad and high-resolution display, and is built to fit into standard bill acceptor cutouts making it simple to extend support for magnetic stripe, chip cards and contactless payments into traditional cash-only kiosks, ticketing and vending machines.

The Vx 700 is also suited for parking payment machines that utilize low-power modes when idle, but must power up quickly when a customer is ready to use them. [end]
