TeleCom and Mastercard team up to enable mobile phone payment

Telecom Italia, an Italian land-based and mobile phone company, has entered a partnership with MasterCard that enables customers to make main payments from their mobile phone, according to an AGI News article. By using Near Field Communication technology a customer will be able to perform transactions such as recharge prepaid cards or transfer money between personal accounts.


Through text messaging, TeleCom is hoping that customers will find the added convenience and speed of the new system to be a welcome change in every day transactions removing the swiping of a card and entering of a pin for a waving of a phone. MasterCard was a natural choice for this endeavor as the new system is not far off from the company’s PayPass that sees customers waving a card in front of a sensor rather than inserting and entering a PIN.

The UK’s YESpay International and YES-wallet.com have teamed up to build an NFC-enabled cloud-based mobile payments platform.

By integrating the YES-wallet Pouch digital wallet with YESpay EMBOSS payment service, the companies will provide a platform that encompasses e-Money, pre-paid and gift-card payments based on Visa PayWave and MasterCard PayPass contactless standards.
