Contactless payment technology is continuing to gain merchant acceptance. The latest convert is drugstore chain Rite Aid’s 3,800 of its 5,000 U.S. stores which are now accepting MasterCard PayPass cards.
“Our number one priority is our customers, and we are committed to providing them with unparalleled service and convenience,” said Don Davis, Rite Aid senior vice president and chief information officer. “By accepting contactless payment technology, we’re able to provide our customers with a fast and convenient way to pay for their everyday purchases, enhancing their overall shopping experience.”
Besides tapping to complete the payment cycle, Rite Aid customers also won’t have to sign receipts for purchases under $25.
“MasterCard PayPass is increasingly becoming the payment method of choice in sectors where merchants recognize the value of providing faster check-out times for their customers,” said Denis Bouchard, group head, U.S. merchant product sales, MasterCard Worldwide. “Rite Aid stores provide an ideal setting for the benefits delivered by contactless payments.”
