Contactless payments speeds up coffee drinkers
Patrons to London-based Coffee Republic shops can now use their Barclaycard Business’s OneTouch card to make purchases. So far, one in five credit card transactions are contactless. The move follows a four month trial at several shops between January and April.
According to the chain, the highest volume of contactless transactions took place in March when 118 consumers opted to pay for items, about 20% of the total number of credit card transactions that month. The OneTouch system enables customers to pay for goods of £10 or less by touching their Barclaycard to a reader–avoiding the need to enter a PIN or sign for the transaction.
