ANZ to launch pre-paid Visa payWave card

Australian and New Zealand Bank will offer a Visa contactless Visa payWave card preloaded with $25 to $2,000 (Australian dollars) to ANZ Stadium members during the Bledisloe Cup rugby match between Australia and New Zealand July 26.

The card recipients will be able to make payments of under $35 by holding the plastic against terminals equipped to read contactless cards that are located within the members’ areas of the stadium.

The cards can be reloaded with funds using Bpay on the Internet or by phone. The cards also include a mag stripe that can be used at merchants that don’t accept contactless cards.

BPC Banking Technologies and Alfa-Bank have teamed up to complete the first certified Visa PayWave launch in Russia, according to RFP Connect.

Alfa-Bank, which boasts some 200 branches throughout Russia, will distribute contactless PayWave Visa cards to its customers to enable low-value contactless payments at the point of sale. To pay, customers need only tap their PayWave card against a contacltess reader at checkout - no PIN of signature required. Transactions are protected by 128-bit technology that generates unique cryptograms for each payment, according to BPC.

The UK’s YESpay International and YES-wallet.com have teamed up to build an NFC-enabled cloud-based mobile payments platform.

By integrating the YES-wallet Pouch digital wallet with YESpay EMBOSS payment service, the companies will provide a platform that encompasses e-Money, pre-paid and gift-card payments based on Visa PayWave and MasterCard PayPass contactless standards.

Metro Inc. is partnering with Visa to bring payWave contactless payments to its chain of 600 grocery stores across Ontario and Quebec.

Beginning early next year, shoppers at Metro, Metro Plus, Super C and Food Basics will be able to pay for items with a tap of a contactless Visa credit or debit card against a reader at the point of sale.
