ExchangeIt partners with Team Nisca for distribution of CardExchange® software with Nisca printers

Team Nisca has selected ExchangeIt and its CardExchange® software as part of the bundled solution to be shipped with their new PR-C101 ID-card printers. The CardExchange® Entry (Nisca Edition) utilizes the “Four Click” interface that affords the end-user with a powerful yet easy to use ID-card production solution.

Embedded within this product is the WYSIWYG CardExchange Designer which provides advanced card design functionality along with a user-friendly interface that allows the client to design, modify and manage multiple ID-card layouts. Also included is a direct-connect link to Microsoft Excel and CSV (Comma Separated) files that allows you to add and edit records into MS Excel files and add records to the CSV files. The Entry edition can be upgraded to the Plus or Premium version and also allow for additional functionality with Plug-in Modules such as Auto Print Server, DB2, MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle, multiple databases connection, and MIFARE smart cards encoding. [end] 

Cryptomathic Joins Smart Card Consortium

Cryptomathic has announced its membership in the MULTOS consortium. It becomes the first and only Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) vendor to join the consortium’s membership ranks. Joining at the Business/Systems Membership Level, Cryptomathic’s marketing and technical experts will participate in the MAOSCO Business Advisory Group and the Systems Forum meetings.

Cryptomathic’s intention is to ensure that in addition to supporting MULTOS specifications through its key products - including CardInk, Key Management System and Certification Authority – the company is able to input into the future evolution of the technology.

Cryptomathic is currently finalizing its support for the packaging of MULTOS step/one application load units in response to customer demand. MULTOS step/one is the entry level multi-application Operating System for issuers migrating to EMV with Static Data Authentication (SDA). [end]

Argus Solutions wins product contract with Government of Wales

Australian biometrics developer Argus Solutions has won a half million dollar deal with the Government of Wales (Welsh Assembly). The order takes Argus’ product order in the UK to around $1 million. Argus was formed eight years ago and has been in business with various UK Government departments since 2004/2005.

Mes Enfants nursery in Mumbles, Swansea, UK has installed a biometric fingerprint scanning system to increase safety of the children and to make parents feel more at ease. Only registered, authorized parents and staff are allowed access the building. When registered people swipe their finger, their details also flash up on a computer so staff know who is there. The scanner registers a fingerprint in seconds and then stores an encrypted version for future comparison.

Booz Allen Hamilton wins biometric contract with Department of Defense and Air Force

Booz Allen Hamilton has won a contract worth $6.3 million to conduct a biometrics research project at the request of the Air Force. Under the contract, Booz Allen Hamilton will help conduct research for a new 3-D facial recognition biometrics program.

Tracking Humans Through the RFID Ecosystem

ZDNet Asia reports that a project called RFID Ecosystem, where researchers give RFID tags to 50 voluntary participants to put on either themselves on their belongings, is in the works.

The location of the tags will be recorded every five seconds, saved to a database and published to Web pages, ZDNet reports. The tracking, facilitated by 200 antennas, will be constrained to the computer science building within the university.

“Our goal is to ask what benefits can we get out of this technology and how can we protect people’s privacy at the same time,” UW associate professor Magda Balazinska said in a statement. “We worry that these technologies are being implemented too quickly, and with this system we want to explore it in a controlled environment, to inform the public and policymakers about issues we might face.” [end]
