New form factors with the contactless Mifare MINI offered by ASSA ABLOY ITG

ASSA ABLOY Identification Technologies announced availability of a series of form factors containing the Mifare MINI contactless chip. The MINI has a smaller memory size (320 Byte EEPROM) but uses the same security and file structure as the popular Mifare 1K. The company is offering the solution in cards, ID bands, key fobs, and other forms.

Walluf, July 19, 2007 – ASSA ABLOY Identification Technologies (ITG), one of the leading providers of products and services in the RFID market, launches its enhanced line of contactless credentials using NXP mifare® MINI. This new IC has been integrated in a huge variety of form factors such as ISO cards, ID bands, key fobs or other Sokymat products to offer a wide selection of cost-effective credentials for various requirements in access control and personal identification solutions.

The mifare® MINI is designed for such applications that require only small memory size but offering the same security features and file structure as mifare® Standard 1k. Typical applications include building access and personal identification solutions such as used for instance within recreational areas to open lockers or pass through entry gates.

Offering the same security as mifare® 1K Byte, mifare® MINI’s main technical features include 320 Byte EEPROM, a unique serial number with four Byte and five securely separated sectors supporting multi-application for converged market requirements
