Breeze cards will no longer be free
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, who had been giving away the MARTA Breeze cards, will begin selling the cards on July 1, 2007. That leaves only a few days, until riders will have to pay $5 for their first re-loadable card. The card will come with two $1.75 fares, which means that riders will have to essentially pay $3.25 for the card.
MARTA also sells paper tickets for less frequent riders. The ticket costs $2.25, which includes a $1.75 fare and a 50-cent charge for the ticket itself. Additional rides can be loaded onto the card for the usual $1.75 fare. The tickets expire after 90 days and the Breeze cards never expire, but wear out in about 4-5 years. Visit the Breeze Card website for more information.
