CPI to produce Wells Fargo's contactless cards

CPI Card Group has been selected to manufacture the contactless cards for Wells Fargo’s new Visa Contactless rollout. The cards, which will contain the INSIDE Contactless Micropass chip, will be made at CPI’s Colorado facility.

CPI Card Group Joins Wells Fargo on Contactless Card Rollout

LITTLETON, Colo., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ – CPI Card Group is the initial card manufacturer for the Wells Fargo(R) Visa Platinum Credit Card and Wells Fargo Visa Signature with Visa Contactless. The CPI produced cards, powered by the INSIDE Contactless’ MicroPass(TM) chip, are to be distributed by Wells Fargo by the end of 2006.

HSBC starts roll out of contactless bank cards

Visa chip cards hit 1 million in U.S.

Visa has announced that more than 1 million EMV chip-enabled cards have been issued by U.S. financial institutions as of December 31, 2011.

Just 18 months ago there were no Visa-branded EMV chip cards issued in the U.S. according to Visa’s Stephanie Ericksen, who attributes the sudden growth to U.S. issuers accepting Visa’s EMV and mobile payments road map.
