ViVOtech reader receives global certification from MasterCard PayPass

The commercially-available ViVOpay 5000 reader from contactless payment solution provider ViVOtech has received MasterCard certification for both the PayPass mag stripe program in the U.S. and the OneSmart PayPass being used in EMV countries. It’s the latest of several ViVOtech teachers that have been certified by the credit card company.

To be certified, products must be submitted to an independent lab where they are rigorously tested for software stability, card data security and interoperability. BMO Bank of Montreal has announced that it will become the first bank in Canada to launch MasterCard’s Mobile PayPass Tag for NFC payments.

BMO customers can attach the tag to their mobile phone to make contactless purchases at the point of sale by simply tapping the phone against a PayPass reader. Once the purchase is complete the user a receives an instant email verification of the transaction.

Turkcell, Turkey’s largest mobile operator, has announced the launch of its Cep-T Cüzdan NFC mobile wallet application on BlackBerry Bold 9900 smart phones.

Turkcell subscribers with NFC-enabled Bold 9900s can now use the mobile wallet service to make contactless payments at any MasterCard PayPass-enabled point of sale across Turkey, as well as abroad.

Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) has received certification from MasterCard for its Canadian TSM (Trusted Service Manager) hub in Toronto.

With an existing MasterCard-certified TSM hub in Munich, G&D is now positioned to offer commercial TSM services at two sites globally, enabling customers in those areas to securely provide mobile payment solutions on NFC-enabled mobile phones.

The UK’s YESpay International and YES-wallet.com have teamed up to build an NFC-enabled cloud-based mobile payments platform.

By integrating the YES-wallet Pouch digital wallet with YESpay EMBOSS payment service, the companies will provide a platform that encompasses e-Money, pre-paid and gift-card payments based on Visa PayWave and MasterCard PayPass contactless standards.
