ASSA ABLOY Identification Technology Group Promotes David Sullivan to Executive Vice President of Business Development

IRVINE, Calif., April 12, 2004 – ASSA ABLOY Identification Technology Group (ITG) is pleased to announce the promotion of David Sullivan to executive vice president ASSA ABLOY ITG Business Development. In his new role, Sullivan will be responsible for coordinating the worldwide international sales strategy and marketing direction for ASSA ABLOY ITG. Additionally, he will oversee branding and channel policy, be involved in global acquisition planning, and the integration of newly acquired ASSA ABLOY ITG companies. Sullivan will report to Ayman Ashour, chief operating officer of ASSA ABLOY ITG.


Since April of 2003, Sullivan served as vice president of business development, Europe for ASSA ABLOY ITG. Sullivan has held increasingly strategic positions since the formation of ASSA ABLOY ITG including being a key member of the integration team after ASSA ABLOY purchased Indala in late 2001 where he helped to develop new company sales and marketing goals.

Sullivan has held positions at HID Corporation beginning in 1994 as central region and North American sales manager. He was promoted in 1997 to director of sales at HID and in 2001, Sullivan became vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for HID and relocated to Europe.

HID Global has announced the successful completion of the world’s first university pilot of NFC smart phones carrying digital keys.

First announced in September, the pilot involved a select group of students and staff at Arizona State University using NFC-enabled smart phones equipped with HID’s Secure Identity Object (SIO) Technology. Participants could gain access to their residence halls and other secure access areas by tapping their handset against a reader embedded in the door and entering a PIN, rather than use their plastic campus card.

Uwe Wittig, group vice president, payment division for Giesecke & Devrient, will remain the organization’s vice chair.
