Innovative visitor management solution reduces costs, improves security

New Orleans, LA. — September 15, 2003 — Datacard Group today introduced an innovative software solution that allows security-conscious organizations to verify visitor identities and issue secure ID cards or adhesive name tags in matter of seconds. The new Datacard® ID Works® visitor manager software solution was demonstrated at the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) Conference & Exhibition.

The new software allows security personnel to scan an approved credential — such as a driver’s license or other government-issued ID — and automatically capture photos and personal information. ID Works visitor manager software uses this information to create a visitor database and gives the user the option of printing plastic ID cards or adhesive name tags. The process requires no data entry and can be completed in a matter of seconds. When visitors return to the location, their identities can be verified and an ID card can be produced by simply accessing the database.

“ID Works visitor manager software directly addresses two pressing concerns for security-minded organizations, “ said Mike Schnaus, vice president of marketing and corporate development for Datacard Group. “First, it allows them to use technology to verify visitor identities, rather than relying solely on the judgment of guards, receptionists or other security personnel. This helps improve security.

“Second, ID Works visitor manager software measurably reduces costs associated with visitor IDs,” Schnaus said. “Scanning an existing credential eliminates data entry and other manual steps. Also, the ability to quickly access the database for subsequent visits removes time from the process.”

ID Works visitor manager software is based on the popular Datacard® ID Works® identification software, a favored solution for corporate and government ID programs worldwide. “ID Works software has been proven in demanding corporate and government environments,” Schnaus said. “So while ID Works visitor manager software is a new solution, it offers the usability and reliability of a highly refined software product.” [end]
