Contactless takes center stage in Orlando at this year’s Cardtech/Securtech show

In May, contactless technology takes over the Cardtech/Securtech conference in Orlando, Florida. I say “takes over” because the growing cross-industry focus on the technology will be in full view at this year’s expo. By my quick estimates, 1 in every 3 booths will be showing some form of RFID product. One of the pre-conference workshops is entirely dedicated to contactless technology and the subject will hold a key position in at least two others.

After long delays, Algeria launches biometric passports

After a nearly three-year delay, the Algerian government has finally launched its biometric passport program.

Magharebia reports that the biometric passports, which contain a contactless smart card chip that holds a digitized photo, fingerprints and signature, were supposed to be released in 2009. Student information at Orlando college posted online

Personal information of 9,000 current and prospective students was inadvertently posted online by Valencia College in Orlando. The school has apologized for the mistake.
